State of the Party

My opinion - sure to be held over my head as soon as I push publish:

  • The county party is weak, the districts are strong
  • We hold a bunch more offices now, and the office holders will drive the party not the party leadership
  • Valparaiso will continue to be the guiding force whether south county likes it or not
  • Duneland is a real opportunity, although Fair Haven is no longer running things
  • We may win the Portage mayor's race if the Dem primary is ugly
  • Watch for redistricting to change the house and senate seats enough that we can gain one of each.
  • Local tea party is done. RLC is growing and a positive influence.
What are your thoughts on the party now?

There's another NWI Pundit, so the site name is confusing. But head there now for the next installment in today's speedblogging exercise.

Hey Porter County Indiana Republicans

Thought I'd better set up another site, yes big #24 for me, to encourage some debate and connection just among Republicans. Our sister site, Porter County Politics, is really maturing into a more balanced debate with writers from both sides of the aisle and a whole lot of traffic.

I'd like in this first post to ask for your opinions on the state of the local Republican party, and what you think needs to be done in the next 90 days? I'll call it Porterco-90 ... since it's always fun to have an Operation name like the military, and then we have something to use on twitter too!

I won't even take the time today to set up all the bells and whistles here, that will take the rest of the week. Just weigh in and I'll coach us all along in getting more connections and debate about where we head next.
